The Houston Police Department says it has arrested a man in connection with the alleged murder of an escort in the Bay Area.
The arrest is a significant development in a homicide investigation into an escort service in the Houston area that has been at the center of an ongoing sex-trafficking investigation.
Police Chief Art Acevedo said in a news release Tuesday that the suspect is identified as 32-year-old Kevin Anthony Sosa of Baytown.
Sosa was arrested Tuesday and charged with murder in the death of a Bay Area escort named Ashley St. Clair.
The investigation began when detectives in Texas began receiving information from Baytown, according to the release.
The suspect was arrested after an undercover officer in Houston tracked him to a Baytown hotel.
Investigators have not released any details about the circumstances of the murder and the motive for the attack, Acevedos office said.
Sanchez was charged with capital murder and sexual battery on a person over 14.
Says the release: “The investigation revealed the suspect had a history of being involved in prostitution, drugs, and other criminal activity.”
According to the arrest warrant, police were notified of St. Claire’s death on March 13.
Her body was found at a hotel in Houston on March 15.
